Homer’s odyssey arrives at Queensboro’s theater

The Department of Speech Communication and Theatre Arts at Queensborough Community College announces the upcoming production of The Odyssey, slated to run April 28 through May 2.

Arthur Adair directs a multicultural cast of QCC students in an adaptation of Homer’s work by Georgia McGill and Greg DiNunzi. Adair is a guest artist from LaMaMa Experimental Theater Club in Greenwich Village.

Journey with Odysseus and his crew as he sails toward Ithaca. After 10 years of war at Troy, Odysseus, with a goddess as his guide, struggles to find the homeland and wife he left behind. This presentation of “The Odyssey,” a joy for young and old, is interactive with the audience seated upon the stage with the actors.

Performances will take place in the QCC Theater, located in the Humanities Building, on Mon. April 28 at noon, Tues. April 29 at 10 a.m. and noon, Wed. April 30 at 10 a.m. and 1:15 p.m., Thurs. May 1 at 10 a.m., and Fri. May 2 at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 8 p.m.

Tickets are available at the QCC Box Office (Library Building, first floor) or one hour before the performance at the door. Ticket prices: QCC students, staff and faculty with ID – $3, General Admission – $8, Seniors and Performing Arts Subscribers – $5. Special Bargain Matinee on Wednesday – $1.
