The Rosedale Jets Football Association is traveling to Pennsylvania for its second annual football camp. The Rosedale Jets, founded in 1961, is providing the youth of Rosedale, Springfield Gardens, Cambria Heights and the surrounding area with the experie

This football camp for children ages 9 to 14 also will provide swimming, basketball, miniature golf, go-kart riding and other activities.

Football camp usually is reserved for high school, college and professional football players. In fact, several former Rosedale Jets Football players, who are high school standouts on their football teams, have returned to the organization to attend the camp free of charge.

Jacques M. Léandre, president of the Rosedale Jets Football Association, said he believes that allowing the former Rosedale Jets Players to attend camp fosters an atmosphere of “giving back to the program.”

Similar to college and professional football players on road trips, the Rosedale Jets football players are traveling in uniform, wearing crisp, white shirts, black ties and khaki pants.

The Rosedale Jets will be traveling in the comfort of the Allen A.M.E. Luxury Charter Bus. Their send-off will be Thursday at 9 a.m. at Brookville Park, Field 1, at 144th Avenue and 232nd Street. The Rosedale Jets will be returning on Sunday at 8 p.m. at the same location.
