Japhet McNeil, a Bedford-Stuyvesant native, scored a team-high 21 points with 5 assists and 4 steals to lead the Christ the King Royals past the Archbishop Molloy Stanners Friday night, 65-57, in a game considered by many to be for the bragging rights of the borough.

But the win was much more than just another game, as McNeil and backcourt mate Mitchell Beauford out-dueled Molloy’s dynamic duo of Marlon Smith and Sundiata Gaines.

McNeil, the team’s quarterback since his sophomore season, was a first-team All-Queens selection by the TimesLedger a season ago and has since moved into the top four all-time in assists at the Middle Village school.
