Cars skidding on ice strike, kill Doug woman on GCP

By Ayala Ben-Yehuda

Ice on the Grand Central Parkway led to an accident that claimed the life of a Douglaston woman on Sunday night, the New York Post reported.

Tanya Koki, 28, was headed west on the Grand Central Parkway just past Northern Boulevard at 7:45 p.m. when her 2001 Honda skidded on some ice and into the center median, the newspaper quoted a police source as saying.

After getting out of her car to survey the damage and call her boyfriend on a cell phone, Koki was hit by a 1997 Chevrolet sport utility vehicle that had skidded on ice, crashed into a guardrail and flipped over, according to the Post.

Koki's body was then run over on the highway and dragged by an oncoming Mazda. The driver of the SUV was hospitalized for minor injuries, and neither the SUV driver nor the Mazda driver were charged with a crime.

Koki's nephews were in the car with her and suffered minor injuries, which were treated at Elmhurst Hospital.

Neither Police Department spokesmen nor the 111th Precinct could not provide information on the incident.
