Glen Oaks Little League readies for opening day

The Glen Oaks Little League president, Rich Biscotti, announced the league will hold its 53rd anniversary opening day ceremony, including a parade, on April 17 at 9:30 a.m. The ceremony will be at the Glen Oaks Oval at the intersection of 260th Street and

The League expects a number of public officials and dignitaries to help more than 350 boys and girls and their siblings and families kick off the season.

The teams will assemble at the Oval at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Teams will parade down 260th Street along Union Turnpike through Glen Oaks, Floral Park and Bellerose.

Established in 1952, the Glen Oaks Little League serves boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 16 from the Glen Oaks, Floral Park, New Hyde Park and Bellerose sections of northeast Queens. The league sponsors T-ball, softball and hardball programs.

The Glen Oaks Little League Board for 2003-2004 consists of President Rich Biscotti, Vice President for Little League Hector Caraballo, Vice President for Softball Pete O’Rourke, Secretary Ted Fackelman, Treasurer George Harrison, Safety Officer Alexander Pineiro, Player Agent Mark Sophie, Umpire-in-Chief Mike McGovern and Trustee Joe Conway.
