Go ‘off to see the Wizard’ at QTIP sing-along party

Queens Theatre in the Park will present, as part of the Con Edison Family Series, “Sing-A-Long Wizard of Oz,” a wacky combination of theatre and film, April 10 at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

“Sing-A-Long Wizard of Oz,” the new interactive film experience, is based on the most beloved motion picture of all time. This great, Oscar-winning, classic film has been fully restored for the big screen and is enhanced with on-screen icons and subtitles for all of the movie’s songs and key scenes, allowing the audience to become an integral part of the magical, musical experience.

Now, audiences of all ages can celebrate the story of Dorothy and her fantastical journey by singing along to some of history’s best known and loved songs. Audiences are also encouraged to dress up as their favorite characters for an on-stage costume contest. A spirited master-of-ceremonies will lead the crowd through a comical interactive guidebook to the audience participation through gestures and expressions. Plus, a “Perform-a-long Fun Pack” is provided free with every ticket. Don’t miss what The Wall Street Journal described as a “bizarre theatrical experience… But what fun.”

The National Tour of “Sing-A-Long Wizard of Oz” made its world premiere at Chicago’s Ford Center for the Performing Arts, and has traveled throughout the United States and Europe. “Sing-A-Long Wizard of Oz” is produced in association with Nederlander Presentations, Inc., Clear Channel Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures.

“Sing-A-Long Wizard of Oz” will be shown in its original large screen format, which hasn’t been seen in years. The digitally restored and re-mastered film itself features Dolby Digital Stereo Sound and state-of-the-art technical improvements executed by Warner Bros.’ acclaimed film restoration experts.

The audience participation and all the live elements of “Sing-A-Long Wizard of Oz” were created by director/choreographer Marc Robin, who has directed more than 100 theatrical productions; and writers Craig Cackowski and T.J.
