Bayside man sentenced to jail for molesting 12-year-old girl

By Ayala Ben-Yehuda

A Bayside man was sentenced to 15 years in prison last week for molesting his daughter's 12-year-old friend, said a spokesman for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown. Chang Soo Park, 50, of Bayside was sentenced to 15 years in jail April 21 by Queens Supreme Court Judge Richard Buchter, the spokesman said.

Park was charged with sodomy, sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child after he allegedly touched a 12-year-old girl in an intimate place on March 29, 2002, according to the DA's criminal complaint.

A jury found Park guilty on all the charges exactly two years later after a weeklong trial.

The DA's spokesman said the victim was a friend of Park's daughter. She had hurt her knee bicycling and Park was tending to her injuries when he molested her, the spokesman said.

Park's attorney declined comment.
