The Fine Fair Supermarket Angels improved their season record Saturday to 2-1 by defeating Little Neck 1, 11-3.

Due to an injury to Jeremy Hausdorf and some family obligations, the Angels started the game with only eight players but their team spirit and hustle never wavered.

Chris Mignoli took the mound and threw the first four innings, allowing three runs on two hits while striking out seven and walking one. Chris also helped his own cause by tripling.

Brian Biscotti came on to pitch the final three innings, allowing no runs on two hits while walking three and striking out four.

Like Chris, Brian also tripled, driving in two runs.

Steven Velez continued his strong play behind the plate, going 3-for-5. Tommy Clarkson and Jonathan Kruczowy both had big singles to drive in runs. Vincent Pistone had a single and also hit a solo home run in the fourth inning.

Mineola 14, Uncle Louie G’s Mets 2.

The 9- and 10-year-old girls played their first-ever night game in Uncle Louie G’s Mets’ first loss of the year.

Ashley Tolento pitched the first three innings, giving up three runs on two hits while striking out eight and walking six.

Nicole Gugliemetti took the mound for the first time this year and threw the final two innings. She surrended one run on one hit while walking seven and striking out five.

Offensively the girls struggled against the windmill pitching of Kaitlyn from the Mineola team, but they hung tough and had the go-ahead run on first base with two outs in their last at-bat.

Gabrielle Valdes and Megan Frary each had singles for the Mets, while Meghan Gratzer, Angela George, Danielle Shtab and Gabby Prusak reached base on walks. Kaitlyn Biscotti and Nadine Choocri walked both times they came to the plate.

The girls record stands at 2-1.
