Kew Gardens — A 45-year-old man who climbed over a concrete traffic barrier on Jackie Robinson Expressway between exits 6 and 7 in Kew Gardens was struck and killed by an SUV Tuesday, police said.

The man, whose name was not released, had already crossed the expressway’s westbound side when a 1992 Nissan Pathfinder traveling eastbound in the left lane hit him as he tried to complete the traverse, police said.

The victim was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Officers did not arrest the driver or give him a ticket, police said.
