Surrounded by Snapple machines, the PSAL Softball Seeding Committee announced the brackets for the ‘A’ and ‘B’ playoffs at its Long Island City offices on Monday.

In the ‘A’ division, No. 4 Bayside, along with the top three seeds, received a bye in the first round, scheduled for June 1 at the field of the higher seed. The second round begins June 3, also at the site of the higher seed; the quarterfinals are June 7, at a site to be announced; the semifinals are June 10 at the Great Lawn; and the finals are June 12 at St. John’s. The ‘B’s follow the same schedule. All outbracket and first- and second-round games begin at 3:30 p.m.

In the first round of the ‘A’ bracket, No. 10 William Bryant will meet No. 23 Bushwick; No. 8 Port Richmond will meet No. 25 Benjamin Cardozo; No. 7 Murry Bergtraum will face No. 26 John Adams; No. 6 Francis Lewis meets No. 27 Brandeis; No. 14 Townsend Harris will face No. 19 Stuyvesant; and Bayside faces the winner of Lincoln and New Dorp.

On the ‘B’ side, outbracket games for seeds No. 22 through No. 43 were played Wednesday to determine the first round of the playoffs. No. 26 Brooklyn Tech played No. 39 Far Rockaway at Marine Park in Brooklyn; No. 28 Forest Hills played No. 37 George Washington; No. 29 John Bowne met No. 36 James Monroe; No. 30 Grover Cleveland faced No. 35 East NY Transit Tech; No. 31 Robert F. Queens weighed heavily in the ‘B’ seedings: 1. Richmond Hill, 2. Newtown, 3. Beach Channel, 17. August Martin and 21. Franklin K. Lane.

The first 21 seeds have a berth in the first round.
