Free ‘My Fair Lady’ show at Forest Park bandshell

Plaza’s “My Fair Lady” played to enthusiastic audiences throughout the fall of 2003 and is currently running in parks and schools in Nassau and Suffolk counties.

Astoria resident Tara Lynn Cotty will perform the role of Eliza Doolittle. The part of Professor Higgins will be played by Stephen Ryan, who has appeared on stage at Queens Theater in the Park and in many regional productions. Baysider Ruth Borovicka, another veteran of the local stage, will portray Mrs. Higgins. The 22-member cast will be supported by a 27-piece orchestra led by popular music director/conductor Bill Holland. The entire production is under the direction of Gerald J. Kirby.

Plaza Productions, founded by Executive Producer Kevin Harrington, has thrilled metropolitan area audiences since 1983 with such shows as “Guys and Dolls,” “The King and I,” “South Pacific,” “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” “Carousel,” and “State Fair,” and in summer 2003 “The Sound of Music” played to an overflowing crowd in Forest Park.

On Monday, Aug. 2 at 7 p.m., Plaza Productions will return to Forest Park with a free performance for children of the popular “Cinderella.”
