The Globe Fuel Oil beat St. Robert’s 11-4 to win the DAC Texas League baseball championship.

Both teams entered the game with identical 13-2 records and the Yankees took an early lead with Aaron Geffen singled in Anthony Zullo.

Both Zullo and Geffen were a combined 5-for-6 in the game but it was their stellar play in the field along with the catching of Max Sapirman that helped guide the Yankees to the victory.

The Yankees broke the game open, scoring five runs in the third inning with key contributions coming from Matthew Aprile and Tommy Potamitis — who each had three hits—along with Kalyn Fowler and Anthony Cantatore, who had two hits apiece.

Outfielders Joshua Samet, Dan Widawsky, Joey Davide, John Rosoff and Billy Taddeo were outstanding. Third baseman Mike D’Elia (two hits) provided the defensive play of the game. After making a throwing error to set up runners in scoring position with one out, he made a great catch to turn an unassisted double play to end St. Robert’s rally.
