SOUTH JAMAICA — A 6-month-old baby boy was pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center Monday morning after his mother found him unconscious at the Carlton House family homeless shelter, police said.

Officers responded to the call at 138-10 135th St. in South Jamaica at 11:15 a.m. and rushed the baby, Isaiah Pendegras, to the hospital, police said. He was declared dead on arrival and the medical examiner was to determine his cause of death, although it appears that he choked on his own vomit, police said.
