The Virtuoso Piano – Sunday, April 17, 2005 at 4 p.m. Flushing Town Hall, 137-35 Northern Blvd., Flushing. Pianist Daniel Berman a favorite of our audiences, returns us to the glittering world of the virtuoso piano. Berman's skill and imagination evoke the wonder of a vanished era of piano performance – The Golden Age of the Piano. The Sonata in B Minor, Opus 58 of Chopin takes us on a journey through indescribable lyricism to thundering climaxes.; from a playful scherzo to a mood of transcendent tranquility. Bach's organ works, magically transmuted into the gold of piano sound by Ferruccio Busoni, explore the brilliant repertoire of the world of transcription. In “Goyescas,” Granados creates pictures in sound through his unmatched skill and knowledge of the piano's infinite capabilities – he transforms Goya's wonderful paintings into musical creations.
