BEATEN ON 3RD: A 28-year-old man told police that he was punched in the face and had his hand cut open during an argument in front of 9719 3rd Avenue Sunday. Police said that they are currently looking for the assailant. Investigators were told that he was standing in front of the address at 3:55 a.m. on May 15 when the stranger started arguing with him During the dispute, the suspect struck him in the hand with an unidentified object, leaving a deep cut. The suspect then struck the victim in the face and ran off, officials said. Police are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward. All calls will be kept confidential. *** THEY KICKED THE WHEELS RIGHT OUT FROM UNDER HIM: A 16-year-old area resident told police that he was thrown to the ground and nearly mugged at knifepoint as he pedaled past a Bay Ridge corner. Police said that two Hispanic males were responsible for the attempted robbery, which took place at 10:30 p.m. on May 14. The victim said that he was heading up Bay Ridge Parkway between 10th and 11th avenues when the suspects grabbed him and pushed him off the bike. As he lay on the floor, one of the suspects pulled a knife, cutting the victim’s index finger. The suspects reportedly rifled through the victim’s belongings, but fled the scene empty handed. Police are investigating. *** CANARSIENS LINKED TO BAY RIDGE ROBBERY: A group of teens from Canarsie High School could be responsible for a robbery that took place half a world away from their alma mater – a Bay Ridge handball court near the corner of 85th Street and Colonial Road. The victim, 18, told police that he was playing handball with friends when the teens toting around Canarsie High School baseball bat equipment bags surrounded him. Police said that the victim was punched in the head, knocked to the floor and robbed of his cell phone. The robbery took place at 6:10 p.m. on May 9. *** TUNES TO STEAL BY: A thief broke into a man’s 10th Avenue apartment last week, taking a $150 Magnavox stereo, the 27-year-old victim told police last week. The victim told police that the thief entered the apartment, located near 64th Street, sometime between 4 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on May 6. It was unclear just how the thief entered the apartment as this paper went to press. Anyone with information regarding this break-in is urged to contact authorities at (718) 439-4211. All calls will be kept confidential. *** $300 TAKEN FROM HOME: Apparently leaving nothing behind to track him, a thief entered a Fort Hamilton Parkway home near 86th Street, taking $300 that his 48-year-old victim was saving. The woman said that she had left her home at about 11:20 a.m. on May 6. When she returned at 1:30 p.m., the money was gone, she claimed, although police could not find any signs of forced entry. Police are investigating. *** CABBIE CARJACKED: A 35-year-old cab driver told police last week that someone dragged him out of his 1997 Lincoln Town Car and fled with his wheels. The victim said that he was rolling past the corner of 3rd Avenue and 73rd Street at 4:20 a.m. May 8 when the suspect, identified as a 5’8” 150-pound, 27-year-old white male, flagged him down. The cabbie picked the man up. A few minutes later, the suspect got out of the back seat, threw open the driver’s door and pulled the victim out from behind the wheel. All calls will be kept confidential. *** BELLYING UP TO THE BAR AFTER CLOSING: A barhopping burglar is being sought for breaking into the Dennis Ferris Bar at 6901 Fort Hamilton Parkway last week. Workers told police that the thief entered the bar sometime after closing at 1:45 a.m. on May 4 by breaking through a side window. The burglar fled the establishment with over $300 from two Mega Touch machines and $168 from the register. All told, a total of $968 in cash and property was taken from the bar, officials said. *** TOW TRUCK DRIVER ROBBED: A tow truck driver making his rounds through the area was punched and robbed of his cell phone, officials said. Police said that they are currently looking for the thief, although they don’t have an adequate description of the suspect. The 45-year-old victim said that he was rolling by the corner of 86th Street and 15th Avenue at 7:15 p.m. on May 8 when the thug ran up to him and punched him. The suspect took the driver’s cell phone and ran off, said officials. *** GUNNING AT THE BAD GUYS: A cop from the 60th Precinct opened fire on a car that was reportedly fleeing a shooting scene in Coney Island Sunday afternoon, officials said. Police said that the officers were reporting to a call of shots fired at the corner of West 28th Street and Mermaid Avenue at 2:30 p.m. on May 15. As they arrived at the scene, cops spotted three males fleeing the area in a dark-colored sedan. Responders alerted other area cops, two of whom spotted the suspects speeding down West 31st Street between Surf and Mermaid Avenues. During the chase, one of the officers fired one shot at the fleeing car. Police did not disclose exactly what made the cop open fire. Cops reportedly recovered a gun and the vehicle involved in the chase, but the three suspects were still at large by Monday. All calls will be kept confidential. *** WOMAN’S DEATH INVESTIGATED: The medical examiner’s office has been asked to determine what caused the death of a Bensonhurst woman this past weekend. The 71-year-old woman was found unconscious in her second-floor apartment on 68th Street near 16th Avenue at 11:42 a.m. on May 13. Paramedics took the woman to Maimonides Hospital where she died. Sources said that the senior appeared dehydrated. Cops reportedly asked the medical examiner to look into the case. As this paper went to press, it didn’t appear that the woman was abused or neglected, officials said. Police, however, are still investigating. All calls will be kept confidential. *** FOUND BEATEN TO DEATH IN ALLEY: Cops are investigating the death of a Russian man, initially believed to be homeless, found bloodied and beaten in an alley adjacent to 3054 Brighton 4th Street. Police said that the man, who is believed to be in his early 50s, was found dead with trauma to both his face and head in the alley just before 4 p.m. on May 12. Cops said that an anonymous 911 caller brought them to the scene. According to published reports, the walls of the alley, as well as the victim’s clothes were stained with his blood. Officials have handed the case over to the medical examiner’s office to determine the cause of death. All calls will be kept confidential. *** BEATEN WITH PIPE: A 44-year-old man was beaten with a pipe as he attempted to fix his car in a parking lot at the corner of Shore Parkway and Bay Parkway last week. The victim said that he was having car trouble and pulled into the lot at 4:15 a.m. on May 15 when another man, a Hispanic male in his thirties, started arguing with him. The suspect suddenly pulled a pipe from his car and attacked the victim, striking him in the left shoulder. The suspect also shattered the front window to the victim’s car, officials said. Cops are currently looking for the assailant, who ran off after the allegedly unprovoked attack. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call the 62nd Precinct at (718) 236-2611. All calls will be kept confidential. *** THE TRICK IS ON HIM: A 22-year-old male was robbed of his bike after being approached by three thieves who said that they wanted to show him “a trick.” The victim said he was passing the corner of Avenue X and Bedford Avenue at 4:30 p.m. on May 15 when the three suspects, described only as black males, asked to see if they could do a stunt on the bike. When the victim refused, the suspects punched him in the head and shoulders and threw him off the bike. One of the thieves jumped on the bike and ran off with it, officials said. *** COP INJURED WHILE TAKING DOWN SCOOTER: A police officer was injured last week as he tried to stop an 18-year-old puttering around on a blue micro scooter. Officials said that Pietro Stemma was allegedly zipping past the corner of Bay 23rd and 86th Street at 8:40 p.m. on May 15 when the officer attempted to grab hold of him. Police allege that Stemma ran off. As he did so, he pushed the cop away, causing him to trip and wrench his knee, police alleged. Cops caught up with Stemma a short while later, placing him under arrest on charges of assault. *** CLOKED OVER CLOCK TALK: A 23-year-old woman was put in a headlock and robbed of her purse as she walked past the corner of East 14th Street and Shore Parkway in Sheepshead Bay, officials said. The victim told police from the 61st Precinct that she was approaching the corner at 10:30 p.m. on May 14 when an unidentified male approached, asking her for the time. Without any warning, the suspect grabbed the woman and robbed her, officials said. The victim was not harmed, officials said. The suspect fled the scene with the woman’s purse, which contained $70 in cash, a paycheck, digital camera and a set of keys. Police are investigating. *** HAVE CAR, WILL RUN PEOPLE OVER: A 26-year-old man was arrested last week after he allegedly struck a 32-year-old man with his car. Cops from the 62nd Precinct said that Abderrahim Bernick allegedly hit his victim at the corner of 74th Street and New Utrecht Avenue at 10:10 a.m. on May 13 during an argument. Police are looking for a gun-totting mugger, who may have set up a Chinese food deliveryman to be robbed in a 21st Drive apartment building Thursday, officials said. Police were told that an unidentified white male entered a Bath Beach Chinese restaurant sometime before 7 p.m. on May 5 and made an order. The customer said that he wanted the delivery to go to an address on the 2000 block of 21st Drive. When the deliveryman arrived at the 6th floor of the building he was confronted by a man in a mask armed with a gun, demanding his money. The gunman robbed the deliveryman of $100 and ran off, officials said.
