Belmont Stakes to draw thousands for race

The Kentucky Derby was won by Giacomo on May 7, while Afleet Alex won the Preakness on May 21, thus ensuring that no one horse would sweep all three races this year. The Triple Crown was last won by Affirmed in 1978, although there have been numerous close calls in the 27 years since then. The 13-race card on Saturday will include the $400,000 Manhattan Handicap, the $250,000 Brooklyn Handicap, the $200,000 True North Breeders' Cup Handicap, the $200,000 Riva Ridge Breeders' Cup (Gr. 2) and the $250,000 Just A Game Breeders' Cup Handicap. Parking gates will open at 8:15 a.m. and admission gates open at 8:30 a.m. First race post time is at noon and for the Belmont Stakes, the 11th race on the card, post time is approximately 6:38 p.m.General admission is $10 and includes access to backyard picnic area, trackside apron area and three interior levels of the grandstand. Clubhouse admission is $20, which includes access to trackside apron area and three interior levels.General parking is $10 and preferred parking is $25. There is no valet parking. Reserved seats for Belmont Stakes Day on Saturday are sold out. However, there is space for thousands of fans in first-come, first-served seating in the grandstand, backyard and trackside apron area.ATTIRE The long-standing tradition has been for spectators to dress up for races. Attire guidelines differ for different parts of Belmont Park: For box seats, men are required to wear suits or sports coats. Women should wear dresses, skirts or slack outfits. Absolutely no shorts or jeans. At the Garden Terrace Restaurant, men are required to wear suits or sports coats. Women should wear dresses, skirts or slack outfits. No shorts or jeans are permitted. In the clubhouse, proper attire is required with no abbreviated wear. Men may not wear tank tops.Shirts and shoes are required in the grandstand.
