How’s Business? 3 simple rules

By Joe Palumbo III

Even those in a two-income household must realize that working the proverbial 9 to 5 just doesn't cut it. In today's climate you have to be willing to work those extra hours or in some cases look for different income-producing ventures when you are home from work. Some will say that working too much can take away from the quality of life, and to a certain degree it can. My mentality over the years has been to obtain uninterrupted quality time with my family, and not concentrate so much on logging in how many hours I am at home. Second, take chances and take advantage of opportunities. Taking a chance does not mean gambling on some stock and putting your nest egg behind it. It means not always seeing a glass as half empty. In our wonderful country there are many ways to capitalize on so many different industries and areas. If you always see lemons instead of lemonade, or always see only the rain without the rainbow to follow Ð you will never obtain some of the things you talk about wanting “for the future.” If you never pull that trigger Ð it will always be “what could have been” and you will always get mad at yourself later. Finally, my third suggestion is buy real estate. So How's Business in regard to the ingredients I mentioned? I am far from some financial guru who has all the answers. There is quote by Thomas Edison I will leave you with going into 2006: “Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” Joseph J.
