Construction Worker Falls Through Floor At Atlantic Ave Site

By —Tom Tracy

A worker at a construction site on Atlantic Avenue was rushed to the hospital with head injuries earlier this week after falling through a hole in the floor. Officials said that the accident took place at about 2 p.m. on January 4. Witnesses said that the unidentified worker was walking through the first floor of the site when he fell through the hole, landing one story below in the basement. The worker was not wearing a helmet at the time, witnesses told reporters. EMS officials pulled the victim from the basement and took him to Long Island College Hospital with head injuries. His condition was not known as this paper went to press. Witnesses said that workers had covered the hole with some planks and plywood, but the victim’s weight splintered the wood. Cops from the 76th Precinct were called to the scene, but it was not known as this paper went to press if any summonses had been issued to the site manager.
