How’s Business? Valentine gift ideas

By Joe Palumbo III

This week I had the pleasure of speaking with Frank Barone of Lee's Jewel Box located off the Cross Island Parkway in the Whitestone Shopping Center. Frank and his partner Sheldon Krongard are the owners of Lee's, with quite an impressive array of jewelry. Frank has been in business as the owner of Lee's since 1977. Lee's itself has been in the Whitestone Shopping Center for the past 50 years. I asked Frank to tell me about Lee's and what has made it so successful, for so long. Frank explained, “Our motto says it all – 'reliability and service.' We are very trustworthy and stand behind everything we sell.” Other features Lee's offers to its clients include engraving, appraising, ear piercing, pearl restringing. “We do it all,” Frank said. “All of our work is also done in-house. The manufacturing, resetting, remounting, and all repairs are all done right on site, which is very important to our clients.” I asked Frank the big Valentine's Day question Ð “What is the hot item for Valentine's Day 2006?” Frank chuckled and said “hearts.” He continued, “Earrings, bracelets and some rings are also popular, as well as diamond and non-diamond items, but in the end hearts are the biggest seller, which is pretty fitting for Valentine's Day.” Lee's has a staff of 10, all of whom are professional, courteous, and quite helpful to customers searching for that perfect and special gift. So How's Business in regard to Lee's Jewel Box? When we purchase high-end merchandise like jewelry, it is so important to know that the people we are dealing with are honest. Lee's has a solid track record in our Queens community. If it is time for that jewelry store trip, be it for Valentine's Day, getting engaged, or for just a nice gift, you can call Lee's at 718-767-3110.Joseph J.
