Nuclear drug-maker plans move to larger Zerega site, raising concerns

By Bret Nolan Collazzi

A once-controversial, Zerega-based manufacturer of radioactive drugs will hold a public meeting in early March to answer concerns about its planned move to a larger space closer to Zerega Industrial Park.

Cardinal Health, formerly Syncor International Corp., plans to vacate its current space at the HIP building at 2300 Westchester Avenue and occupy a newly constructed standalone building about four blocks away at 2466 Waterbury Avenue, between Zerega and Seabury avenues, said John Miano, manager of the nuclear pharmacy.

The state requires public meetings whenever a heavily regulated business applies to move into an industrial area with a large residential population nearby. Miano said the forum will likely be held on the evening of March 9, at a local school.
