UNCOMMON COMMON LAW ROBBERY: Area cops are looking for a man who allegedly robbed his common-law wife during a confrontation on Bond Street. Officials said that the 41-year-old suspect was questioning the woman, 40, about her whereabouts that night when he grabbed her and ripped the chain off of her neck. The chain had a cross and a pendant dangling from it during the 12:30 a.m. robbery on February 2, said police, who are currently looking for the 5’11”, 165 pound bald headed black male. The victim, police said, was not seriously injured. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to come forward. Calls can be made to the 76th Precinct at (718) 439-4211. All calls will be kept confidential. *** LEATHER LOOTER CAUGHT WEARING PRIZE: A 41-year-old man was arrested after allegedly breaking into an area home, and was then seen walking around wearing a leather three-quarter length jacket he stole from that address. Police said that Luis Sanoguel was charged with burglary the afternoon of February 2 after allegedly breaking into a home on the 100 block of West 9th Street. Witnesses said that Sanoguel was allegedly seen kicking in an air conditioner sticking out of a window at the address. Police allege that Sanoguel entered through the window and robbed the place of the jacket and a digital camera. A short time later Sanoguel was seen walking around Carroll Gardens wearing the coat that he had just stole, officials alleged. *** TEEN STABBED ON 9TH STREET: A 15-year-old boy was stabbed in the stomach during an argument with another teen last week, officials said. The alleged assailant, identified as 16-year-old Semir Nadish of the 1100 block of Flatbush Avenue, was taken into custody for the attack, which took place at 3 p.m. on February 6. Police said that Nadish and the victim are classmates. The two were standing in front of 239 9th Street near 4th Avenue when they began arguing. During the dispute, Nadish pulled a knife, plunging it into the victim’s abdomen, police alleged. He then pulled the knife out of his victim’s stomach and raked it across the teen’s face, leaving a deep cut, alleged police. The victim was listed in stable condition after being treated at a local hospital. Cops charged Nadish with assault. *** WAS EVE SEEKING REVENGE? Workers at Adam’s Book Company, 537 Sackett Street, told police last week that a thief forged a check in the business’s name last month, taking nearly $2,000 from the company’s coffers. Workers said that the check for $1835 was presented to a bank on January 11 without the knowledge of any employees. The theft was discovered during a routine review of the financial records on February 6. As of this writing, police were still trying to determine who forged the check. *** COVERING UP HIS MISTAKES: An employee for an area business was arrested on grand larceny for “cooking the books” to hide the fact that he allegedly lost over $24,000 in receipts. Police said that 37-year-old Jonathan Jenkins was taken into custody on February 8 as his alleged cover-up was finally discovered – nearly two months after the fact. His employers at Private 1 of New York, 15 2nd Avenue, told police that they had given Jenkins the task of depositing the $24,000 in the bank on December 31. They didn’t realize that the money had not been deposited until February 6. When asked, Jenkins allegedly admitted to “losing” the money, claiming that he left the money in his car as he went into an area store to go to the bathroom the afternoon the deposited should have been made. But, when he returned to his car, the money was gone, he said. Jenkins is accused of trying to alter the company’s records to hide the fact that he had lost the money. *** WHY STEAL WHEN YOU CAN RENT (AND NEVER GIVE BACK)? Cops are trying to track a phantom woman who rented a car with bogus identification and then sped into the wind with the vehicle, never to be seen again. Officials said that the woman rented a 2005 Camry from All Car Rental, 610 Warren Street on December 21. Everything seemed fine until the woman never returned with the car, officials said. On January 30, area investigators were told that the woman had still not returned with the car. When workers at All Car Rental and their parent company Citywide Auto Leasing at 1945 Utica Avenue tried to contact the woman, they learned that the number she gave them had been disconnected. Police believe that the woman’s home address on Madison Street and business address on the 500 block of 6th Street in Park Slope was fabricated as well. *** COPS: HELP CLEAN UP GRAFFITI WHILE EARNING SOME GREEN: As the ongoing war against graffiti vandals continues, cops are now offering up to $500 in reward money to anyone who can offer them information that can lead them to anyone who commits graffiti vandalism. The hefty reward is part of the city’s new push to rid New York of graffiti vandals. Graffiti is one of the leading quality of life complaints brought to police. Officials said that cleaning up graffiti is essential to the plan, to show that the community is no longer going to tolerate marred and tagged-up walls and street corners. According to police there is a perception that if a community will tolerate graffiti, they will tolerate other criminal activities, such as drug dealing and prostitution. Anyone with information about graffiti vandalism is urged to contact either 311 or 911.
