Cops Investigate Abduction Claims

By Tom Tracy

Cops are investigating a young girl’s claims that she was grabbed and nearly sexually assaulted as she made her way to school in East Flatbush Tuesday. As of this writing, sources said that the 11-year-old girl’s story was “changing every minute,” leading investigators to believe that at least some of the report made at 8:30 a.m. on February 21 was fabricated. Police were called to Walt Whitman Junior High School at 72 Veronica Place after the girl told administrators that she was attacked. The girl said that she was on her way to school when an unidentified man in a hooded sweatshirt grabbed her and pulled her into an L-shaped parking lot around the corner of the school near the intersection of Lott Place and Albemarle Road. The stranger attempted to molest her, but the girl managed to break free and run away, officials were told. However, as the day progressed, cops found more and more information that is leading police to believe that the attack never took place. Cops reportedly interviewed an attendant at the parking lot who said that he had been working there all morning, and didn’t see the attack or anyone fitting the attacker’s description. “Right now, it’s a coin toss if the girl is telling us everything,” said a source. “But until we know further, we’re going use all of our resources to investigate this case and see where it will lead us.” Cops are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward. Calls can be made to the NYPD’s CrimeStoppers hotline at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
