Auburndale teen pleads guilty to Douglaston bias attack

By

DA Richard Brown said 19-year-old Kevin Brown, who lives at 196-40 45th Ave. and is the son of a police officer, pleaded guilty in Queens Criminal Court to beating John Lu and Reynold Liang, both 19, on Aug. 12 in Douglaston. The district attorney said the defendant also admitted that he attacked the men because of their race.

“His (Brown's) actions are a throwback to a dark time and place in American history and an affront to civilized society,” DA Brown said.

The DA said Brown is expected to be sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison. Brown's co-defendent in the beating, 21-year-old Little Neck resident Paul Heavey, is still awaiting trial.
