LEHMAN LIONS FALL 61 TO 46 TO F. DOUGLASS

By Jon Minners

If lions truly are the kings of the jungle then Lehman would rule the Bronx and Frederick Douglass Academy would rule Manhattan, but when both teams collided on Thursday, January 18, only one walks away as the true king of New York.

Unfortunately for Lehman High School, the Frederick Douglass Academy Lions were just too much to handle. No matter how hard the Bronx school clawed at the lead, the Lehman Lions would fall short, 61 to 46.

Tywon Clarke made a game of it for Lehman, scoring 19 points to go with 14 rebounds and 10 assists. Samuel Texidor added 13 points and Frankie Echevarria kept his team in the game with 11 rebounds.

Lehman went into the half down only 26 to 22, but in the third quarter, Frederick Douglass Academy broke away, scoring 22 points and never looking back. Calvin Mack
