THEMED MINI-SCHOOLS AT I.S. 192 TO FOCUS ON CIVICS AND MATHEMATICS

When neighborhood fifth-graders decide where to attend middle school later this year, they will have a choice between a nonprofit-run academy focusing on civics and community activism and a city-run school geared toward advanced mathematics.

The Urban Assembly School for Civic Engagement and the Urban Institute of Mathematics will take over the I.S. 192 building on Hollywood Avenue beginning this fall, with all new sixth-graders enrolling in the two smaller schools as I.S. 192 graduates its final two classes.
