Padavan applauds plan to end train horn noise in Little Neck

The acquisition of funding to install the quad gates will solve the problem of excess horn use at the Long Island Rail Road Little Neck station. In the meantime, I am pleased with the plan forwarded to me by LIRR President Helena Williams.

You will note that the LIRR is amending its current requirements to limit the horn sound blasts. They are also planning to install a device that will limit the noise dispersed. Finally, they have mailed two waiver requests to the Federal Railroad Administration that will further limit the use of horns.

I am pleased with this response to our requests. Please share this information with all interested parties.
