Man arrested for biting girlfriend, robbery: Cops

BAYSIDE A 23-year-old man was arrested and charged with robbery and assault after allegedly biting his girlfriend's face and stealing her Sidekick cell phone, police said.

Police said Manuel Diaz and his girlfriend allegedly got into a verbal dispute Friday morning near Francis Lewis Boulevard and 37th Avenue. According to authorities, Diaz's girlfriend left his residence and he followed her to a nearby bus stop.

Police said once he caught up to her, Diaz allegedly bit her face and punched her in the stomach, knocking her to the ground. Diaz then allegedly took her Sidekick phone and credit cards, which were in his vehicle, and refused to return them, they said.

Police said Diaz was arrested shortly after the incident.
