Man assaulted, robbed in Oakland Gdns.: Police

OAKLAND GARDENS A pedestrian was physically assaulted and robbed on his way to a nearby park Sunday afternoon, police said.

The unidentified victim was near 56th Avenue and 202nd Street around 4 p.m. when a gray Nissan Altima pulled up to him, police said. Two unidentified men got out of the sedan and hit the pedestrian in the head.

The perpetrators then knocked the man down and stole his T-Mobile Sidekick cell phone, according to police. The men then fled eastbound in their car, which had a New York plate that began with "DEC," police said.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). All calls will be kept confidential.
