Man confesses before breaking into car: DA

SOUTH JAMAICA Police arrested a 41-year-old man last week after he allegedly confessed to a crime he had not yet performed upon being spotted peering into parked cars in South Jamaica, Queens DA Richard Brown said.

Barry Henderson of Brooklyn was allegedly looking through car windows along 148th Street near 90th Avenue in South Jamaica May 6 when officers noticed his behavior, the DA said.

The officers spotted a screwdriver in Henderson's back pocket and asked him what he was up to, the DA said. The defendant allegedly told police, “I was thinking about breaking into a car,” the DA said.

While searching the defendant, police found a small packet of cocaine and bag of heroin, Brown said. He was charged May 7 with possession of burglar's tools and drug possession, he said. If convicted, he could face up to one year in jail, Brown said. His bail was set at $1,500, the DA said.
