Spring Jam Fest notebook: Cardozo transfer finds Green pastures on Long Island

By Marc Raimondi

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — It was clear Nikita Green needed a change of scenery. She and Cardozo coach Larry Carradine weren’t seeing eye to eye and her family had already moved out to Long Island. So, after last basketball season, she and her father decided Green would make a move of her own: to Roosevelt HS in Nassau County.

Things have worked out well, so far. The speedy, 5-foot-3 point guard helped lead Roosevelt to the Nassau Class A semifinals two months ago and has gotten interest from Division I Hartford.

“I’m getting noticed more out there,” said Green after a game with her NYC Heat AAU team at Hoop Group’s Spring Jam Fest.

The goal this summer with the Heat is to improve her jump shot and gain more college looks.

“She sees everything,” said Kerri White, her former teammate with the Heat. “She’s really smart with the ball. I love playing with her.”
