Maspeth woman arrested in airplane assault: Cops

DENVER, COLO — A Maspeth woman was released on bail Monday after being accused of punching a flight attendant on a cross-country flight last week, authorities said.

A federal judge released Chrisinta Szele on a $10,000 bond under the conditions that she could not travel on planes or drink alcohol. Szele was arrested on a plane June 17 for assault after she allegedly shouted racial slurs at a flight attendant who tried to stop her from smoking on the plane, authorities said.

Szele then allegedly punched the attendant in the jaw, at which point the captain diverted the New York to San Francisco flight to Denver, where she was subsequently arrested, authorities said.

Szele's arraignment is scheduled for July 11.
