Corona stereo thief fell asleep in car: DA

CORONA — Police in the 110th Precinct arrested a Corona man after he fell asleep in the middle of stealing a radio from a parked car, the Queens district attorney's office said.

Martin Hernandez, 44, faces misdemeanor charges of possessing burglar's tools, criminal mischief, unauthorized use of a vehicle and attempted larceny after officers caught him napping, police said.

On July 9, at 2:46 a.m., a witnesses called police to report that a man had broken into a 2001 Nissan on 111th Street near 48th Avenue, according to a criminal complaint filed by the DA's office.

Officers found an orange screwdriver next to Hernandez's hand and a radio that had been pried open, according to the complaint.

Hernandez was arraigned July 9, the DA's office said. His next court date is Aug. 12, the DA's office said.
