Bayside robbers enter home via basement door

BAYSIDE — Thieves broke into a house July 3 and ran off with money and jewelry, police said.

The perps forcibly opened a basement door to enter the home near 53rd Avenue and 197 Street and ran off with jewelry, cash, a laptop, Korean and U.S. passports and a statue, according to police.

The crime occurred sometime between 12:30 and 3:25 p.m., police said.

A neighbor saw a suspicious blue minivan and two males around the time of the crime, according to police.

No arrests were made.
