Drunk man crashes into Flushing traffic signal: DA

FLUSHING — A Brooklyn man was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after crashing into a traffic signal, the Queens district attorney's office said.

At 4:20 a.m. July 7, an officer observed Zhiheng Cai, 25, drive his 2007 Mazda into the light pole at the intersection of Northern Boulevard and Main Street, according to a criminal complaint filed by the DA's office.

When questioned by officers, Cai said he had been “drinking a lot today,” the complaint said. His blood alcohol level was .171 on an intoxilyzer test, the complaint said.

Cai was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, a misdemeanor, the DA's office said. He was arraigned July 7, the DA's office said. His next court date is Sept. 9, the DA's office said.
