The site, www.chdcqueens.org, comes about 1 1/2 years after the corporation was established in the middle of 2006. The goal of the corporation is to enhance the aesthetics and variety of stores on Linden Boulevard, Cambria Heights' commercial strip.”Visitors to www.chdcqueens.org will be able to find information to enhance their economic well-being, educational information, resources for those in need and updates on what the CHDC is doing for the community,” said Kevin Jemmott, the president of the development corporation, in a statement.Business owners who visit chdcqueens.org can download an application for a Pathmark grant, which gives merchants funds that can be used to renovate the exteriors of their storefronts. Also available on the site is the Cambria Heights Shopping Guide, which lists all the businesses on Linden Boulevard by street and business type. The guide was initially rolled out in April. The development corporation sponsors a scholarship program, named after the late Cambria Heights Civic Association President Jack Thompson. Applications can be downloaded off www.chdcqueens.org.Three prizes Ð $1,000, $500 and $250 Ð are awarded to seniors at the Campus Magnet schools in Cambria Heights who demonstrate outstanding community service. Thompson attended the school back when it was known as Andrew Jackson HS.A retail analysis of Linden Boulevard, which was originally performed in May 2006, can also be downloaded off the Web site. When the details of the analysis were first revealed, it showed that the boulevard was in need of merchants selling jewelry, musical instruments, crafts and sewing supplies and photography items.Reach reporter Howard Koplowitz by e-mail at hkoplowitz@timesledger.com or by phone at 718-229-0300, Ext. 173.
