Two Queens men arrested in NJ molestation

NEW JERSEY — Two Queens men were arrested and charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child after an 8-year-old New Jersey girl said they had touched her at a barbecue Sunday.

Bergen County prosecutor John Molinelli announced the arrests of Fernando Guaman of Jackson Heights and Manuel Bermeo of Jamaica after they were arraigned Monday.

They allegedly took turns touching the girl's genitals over her clothing while in another room during the barbecue, Molinelli said.

Guaman and Bermeo are both in the country illegally, and federal authorities have been notified of their arrests and warrant detainers have been requested, the Bergen County prosecutor's office said.

In lieu of bail, which was set at $250,000 each, Guaman and Bermeo were remanded to the Bergen County Jail, the Bergen County prosecutor's office said.
