Stop truck parking along service roads

By Rich Pokorny, Bayside

Summer is in full swing in our community, but the illegal parking of tractor trailers on our streets is, too.

The major areas taken over by the trucks are 206th Street, the southbound Clearview Expressway service road adjacent to the Bayside High School athletic field, and the city Parks' Department soccer fields north of 32nd Avenue. Usually, there are at least two trucks parked there overnight.

Additionally, the service road north of Northern Boulevard is another favorite spot. When parked there, cars attempting to enter the road from Northern Boulevard have their vision obscured by the trucks.

It was my understanding that parking commercial vehicles overnight on city streets was illegal. Why isn't this law enforced?
