FLUSHING — Police said a woman was arrested after striking another woman in the face with a beer can during a New York Mets game at Shea Stadium last week.
Authorities said Laura Rizzo, 21, allegedly got into an altercation with another woman during the later innings at a July 26 game where the Mets lost 10-8 to the St. Louis Cardinals. Authorities said an argument between the two escalated until Rizzo allegedly struck the woman across the face with a beer can, causing injury.
Authorities said Rizzo was detained by security, subsequently arrested and charged with assault and harassment.
