Do not get rid of term limits

Helen Zaro, Queens Village

I agree with former City Councilman Peter Vallone Sr.'s assessment of term limits. I always felt that if one is dissatisfied with legislators' performances, he or she could vote against them when they ran again.

Many people told me that they did not understand what the consequences were. They took the easy way out because there was not enough information disseminated.

Philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau wrote over 200 years ago: “Good laws lead to the making of better ones. Bad ones bring about worse.” This is a time when democracy filters down to the individual and one has a chance to be heard.

If the message is loud, clear and forceful, its reverberations will be far-reaching.
