Flushing man injured fleeing shooting: Cops

MANHATTAN — A Flushing man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly shot a man whose car he was riding in while it was idling in a Manhattan parking lot, police said.

Ronney Alvarez, 20, of 142-30 Sanford Ave., shot the 37-year-old victim in the jaw during a dispute while the car was parked Saturday at around 11:40 p.m. on Cherry Street between Pike Street and Market Slip, police said.

The victim drove off and Alvarez jumped out of the window and fled into another vehicle driven by a second suspect, police said.

The victim then crashed his car at the corner of Catherine Slip and Water Street, police said.

Alvarez was taken to Bellevue Hospital after he suffered a fractured arm after jumping out the window, police said. The victim was also taken to that hospital in stable condition, police said.

Charges against Alvarez were pending, police said.
