Wife hired bouncers to break husband’s nose: DA

LONG ISLAND CITY — A Long Island City woman faces criminal charges after allegedly trying to hire men to break her husband's nose and severely beat him, the Queens district attorney's office said.

Mariliza Cotoulas, 43, was charged Sept. 3 with criminal solicitation, menacing and harassment after witnesses said she allegedly tried to arrange for a pair of nightclub bouncers to inflict serious injury on her husband, who was in the process of divorcing her, according to a criminal complaint filed by the Queens DA.

Starting in January, Cotoulas allegedly tried to get a neighbor to hire the two bouncers for her after her husband served her with divorce papers, court documents show. She allegedly specifically requested the men break his nose and leave him comatose, the DA's office said.

The neighbor soon warned Cotoulas' husband about her plans, as did several other people, court papers show. Cotoulas' next court date is Oct. 1.
