Police chase bull down Jamaica Avenue

WOODHAVEN — A runaway bull turned Jamaica Avenue into Pamplona Sept. 17.

The animal was spotted around 10 p.m. by residents living around 96th Street and officers promptly responded, police said. The black bull ran away from the officers, who gave chase on foot and by car, according to police.

During the scramble, the bull damaged a NYPD vehicle, police said.

The officers and members of the police's Animal Care and Control unit were able to catch up with the animal near Forest Park and used a rope to corral it. It was later sedated and transported to Animal Care's headquarters in Brooklyn, police said.

Investigators were looking into where the bull escaped from, according to police.

The bull died less than an hour after being captured, according to New York Center for Animal Care and Control spokesman Richard Gentles.
