Flushing man arrested after Astoria assault

ASTORIA — A Flushing man was arrested after a brutal assault early in the morning of Sept. 28, the Queens district attorney's office said.

Around 4:07 a.m., George Roman, 21, and several others allegedly attacked a woman at the intersection of Steinway Street and 35th Avenue, according to a criminal complaint filed by the DA's office.

Roman and several others allegedly punched, kicked and stomped on the victim, who was treated for a concussion, swelling, cuts and bruising, and had to get eight staples in her head, the DA's office said.

Roman was arraigned Sept. 29 in Queens Criminal Court, the DA said. He was released on $1,000 bail. His next court date is Oct. 30.
