Man arrested for impersonating taxi cop: DA

EAST ELMHURST — A Woodside man was arrested on suspicion of criminal impersonation after allegedly pulling over and taking the licence of a yellow cab driver, the Queens district attorney's office said.

On Sept. 28, around 2:45 a.m. at 25-39 Boody St., Sukhdeep Chahal, 22, allegedly pulled over a yellow cab in his 2003 Acura using emergency lights, according to a criminal complaint filed by the DA's office.

Claiming he was with the Taxi and Limousine Commission, he allegedly took the driver's ID, taxi license, registration and insurance information and walked back to his car, the DA said.

Chahal was arrested by an officer who observed the incident, the DA said.

Chahal pleaded guilty Sept. 28 to charges of disorderly conduct, the DA's office said. He received a conditional discharge from custody.
