Electeds must take action to get trees trimmed

By Lee Yang, Oakland Gardens

A battle concerning the inspection and trimming of city trees along Francis Lewis Boulevard is now engaged with the city Parks Department. State Sen. Frank Padavan (R-Bellerose) does not seem to have any influence. The City Council does not respond.

Petitions and letters have been submitted to Padavan and the department. A vague response from the deputy commissioner is available. There is a current and real danger to public health and safety with falling dead branches along this designated evacuation route, with children walking to nearby schools.

We, the signers, have demanded action in these times of a moribund political system.
