Boro teen threatened with meat cleaver: DA

RIDGEWOOD — A 41-year-old Bronx man was arrested in mid-October after he allegedly threatened a teenager parking his car with a meat cleaver, the Queens district attorney said.

Lian Yong, who lives in the Bronx, was arraigned Oct. 13 before Queens Criminal Court Judge Suzanne Melendez on charges of menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment and released on his own recognizance, Queens DA Richard Brown said.

The defendant will return to court Nov. 10, he said.

Yong allegedly approached an 18-year-old man as he parked his car and told him to leave, the DA said. When the teenager got out of his car, the defendant allegedly pushed him and said, “Wait, I'll be back,” Brown said.

The defendant left the scene, allegedly returned moments later with a meat cleaver knife and chased the 18-year-old, the DA said.

Police allegedly found the knife on the ground upon their arrival, the DA said.
