Community Board 8 member Marc Haken and Queens Village resident Moises Garcia know more about youth violence than they would like.
This past summer Brian Gonzalez, a 17−year−old Hollis neighbor of Haken’s whom he knew well, was murdered at a July 26 graduation party in South Jamaica, and Garcia has known three friends who have been killed.
Gonzalez, a well−liked Van Buren HS student, died after he was shot in the neck during the party that was thrown by a friend of his.
“The youth are killing each other, and we want to stop it,” Garcia said.
