ROUTINE TRAFFIC STOP ESCALATES TO GUNFIRE

What should have been an uneventful evening rush hour last week turned into a traumatic event for those who witnessed a police officer firing on a vehicle near the intersection of Allerton and Matthews avenues, and Boston Road.

On Friday, February 8, at 6 p.m., police officers spotted a vehicle with the VIN scratched off, indicating that the car was possibly stolen. When officers attempted to stop the car, the driver fled the scene, leading one officer to fire two shots in the silver BMW
