Items over $2K stolen outside mall: Police

DOUGLASTON — More than $2,000 worth of items were stolen from a car parked outside Douglaston Mall Sunday evening, authorities said.

Police said the perpetrator was able to pop the lock on the passenger side door of a Chrysler Suburban between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Douglaston Mall Sunday.

Police said the victim returned to the car to discover $2,289 worth of items, which were not identified, stolen from the vehicle. No arrests had been made and the investigation was ongoing.
