Man shot at entrance of Queens Midtown Tunnel

LONG ISLAND CITY — Police said a man who was shot several times in a car in Brooklyn died from his injuries at the mouth of the Queens Midtown Tunnel as his friends struggled to find a hospital.

Police said a 25−year−old man was sitting in a car with two friends near the corner of Meeker and Morgan avenues in Brooklyn shortly after 11 p.m. Friday when a non−descript man approached the vehicle and shot him several times in the head and torso.

Police said the driver of the car left the scene of the shooting in search of a hospital, but pulled over at the Queens Midtown Tunnel after seeing a police officer.

EMS officials responded to the scene, but pronounced the man dead at 11:18 p.m., according to authorities.

The name of the victim was not released pending family notification. Police said no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
